HOW TO TRANSLATE YOUR WEBSITE CONTENT

At present, the Spanish Website Translation add-on is offered free of charge and included with all Realty2Go websites, except the Nano website which will be available soon. To translate your content (property details, pages, blog posts), we offer an easy-to-use Language Translation Editor. The content of the website (property description, pages, blog posts) can be translated manually (by the Estate Agent or by a professional Translator), automatic (optional) by using Google automatic translation API, or a mix of both.

A quicker translation of your website content will be by using a “mix of both” (manual and automatic translation), which means to translate the page first automatically by using Google Translation and after that just do small improvements of the translation manually. In order to have the content automatically translated, you will need a Google Translation API key. Please note that we can set up the automatic Google Translation only after you provide us with the Translation API key for your website. In this case, you have to first create a Google billing account, to create your Translation API key.

How To Translate your website content?

After you logged in go to the page you want to translate (frontend/visitors view) and click ‘Translate Page’ (1).

The translation interface (editor) will open on the left side of the page you are going to translate. To translate your English content into the Spanish language click the small selection arrow (1) and select ‘Spanish’ (2), next screenshot.

MANUAL TRANSLATION

To translate any text of a page, hover your mouse over the text string you want to translate, then click the little pencil icon (3). If you’re translating manually your text, you have to enter the Spanish text inside the translation box (4). To continue translating the rest of the content of the page, hover the mouse over the next text string (text or phrase) and click the pencil icon again. Do not forget to click “Save Translation” each time you have finished a text string translation. The translation procedure is the same for the property description pages, blog posts or pages.

Tip: you can also automatically translate your text in Google Translate (www.translate.google.com), then copy & paste your translated text inside the translation box. If necessary you can edit/correct it inside the translation box (4). Do not forget to save your changes.

AUTOMATIC TRANSLATION (optional)

If ‘Automatic Translation’ has been activated everything will be automatically machine-translated by Google. Sometimes there is text or complete phrases which are not correctly translated and you wish to manually edit/correct that text, then you have to repeat the steps (1) to (3). Step (4) is not necessary while the automatically translated text will already show inside the translation box (4). Here, you can edit/correct the text. Click ‘Save Translation’ (5) when finished.

TIPS

1. Before to edit text on any page you will see a rotating circle (1) which shows that the translation editor is loading. You have to wait until this circle stops. After that, you can start with the translation of the page.

2. Sometimes some of the text you are looking to translate is not fully showing on the page. Hover the mouse over the vertical line (1) and move the same line towards left so to increase the width of the page.Translate05

3. It could be possible that some of the strings you wish to translate are not showing up when in editing mode of the page. In this case, you can find those strings inside the dropdown list, as shown in this screenshot. Select the string you are looking for in the field ‘Select string to translate’.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

Automatic Translation
As mentioned above, for the automatic translation of your website content you need a Google Translation API key, which you have to order at Google. Details of how to order, prices and other information are given on our Knowledgebase. When using a Google Translation API, the website is automatically and completely translated into the language of the selected Translation. Please note that at present we offer the Spanish Website Translation add-on free of charge. Google Translation API only translates strings you haven’t translated before, which means that if you already have translated some text before manually, Google’s automatic translation will not change that translated text. It is well-known that machine translations are not 100% correct, so you may have to check the automatic translation and manually correct some of the words or phrases. Google’s Automatic Translation is a paid service. However, Google does include free credits for new accounts.

Translate part of your website by a Professional Translator

The content that you want to be reviewed by a professional translator should normally be sent for editing/ translating. With our translation tool, this is not necessary anymore, because your Professional Translator has access (separate login) to his personal dashboard, limited to do only the translation on your website.

There are always situations where quality translation will be required because not all content needs the same level of attention. Generally, Estate Agents use a mix of automatic and manual translation for property descriptions, pages and blog posts. Website content that drives the most traffic to your website should be translated manually by a professional translator or manually by the Estate Agent himself. For low performing content of posts or pages, a mix of automatic translation and manual editing by the Estate Agent will be a good compromise.
